We operate two distinct horseback riding locations on Oahu:
- North Shore – Oceanfront Beach Rides

Hawaii Polo Trail Rides is located on the North Shore of Oahu, approximately 60–90 minutes from Waikiki and Honolulu, depending on traffic.
We ride along a private oceanfront property and scenic ranch trails.

Our Mountain Vista Tours are located in Kapolei on the west side of Oʻahu, in the scenic Waiʻanae Mountain Range.
These tours operate separately from our North Shore oceanfront rides and are offered through Pālehua Trail Rides.

The minimum age to participate in our Oahu horseback rides is 8 years old.
All riders must be able to follow instructions and control their horse independently.
Due to our insurance not covering any keiki under 8, the minimum age requirement is 8 years old! There are no exceptions!
We do not allow double riders as that is a safety hazard.

The maximum weight limit is 230 pounds per rider.
For the safety of our horses and guests, we cannot make exceptions to this policy.
Guests exceeding the weight limit upon arrival may be asked to be weighed and will not be able to ride and will be subject to no refunds.

Yes. Our horseback rides are beginner-friendly and no experience is required.
Before each ride, our guides provide a safety demonstration and riding instructions to ensure all guests feel comfortable and confident.
All rides are guided and walk-only for safety.

Yes. Hawaii Polo Trail Rides is the only horseback riding experience on Oahu that rides directly along the oceanfront and across the sand.
Our tours include sandy shoreline and scenic coastal views. Horses are not allowed past the vegetation line as it is illegal in Hawaii. We ride above the vegetation line which is on our private property.

We do not have a dress code, however long pants and closed-toed shoes are recommended, but not required.

Yes. Helmets are required for all riders and are provided at no additional charge.

The horseback trail ride lasts approximately 60–90 minutes depending on the size of the group.
Please allow up to 2 hours total for check-in, safety briefing, and ride time.

Yes! Guests are welcome to bring phones or small cameras.
Our guides are happy to take photos for you during scenic stops including a stop on picture beach at no additional charge.

Drones are not permitted.

No. For safety reasons, all tours are guided walking trail rides only.
Due to deep sand and varying terrain, trotting or cantering is not permitted.
Safety is our top priority for both our guests and horses.

Along the beach, and through the ranch along Oahu’s famous North Shore.

Light rain does not automatically cancel rides.
If weather conditions (severe rain or lightning) are unsafe, we may delay or reschedule your ride.
In rare cases of severe weather cancellation by our staff, we will make the decision at the start of the ride. Decisions are not made ahead of time due to how quickly rain can pass on the island.

Our horses are well-trained polo and ranch horses accustomed to oceanfront and trail riding.
They are experienced, calm, and carefully matched to riders.

No. Guests must provide their own transportation to our North Shore location.
Parking is available on-site.
We recommend allowing at least 60–90 minutes travel time from Waikiki.

Traffic depending, it would be safe to leave 90 Minutes before check-in time (30 minutes prior to activity start time). Traffic from Waikiki starts around 2:30pm!

Guests must be physically able to mount, sit upright, and control a horse independently.
If you have back, neck, or joint issues, please consult a medical professional before booking.
In extreme cases it is staff decision. Let us know if you have any restrictions prior to joining us.

Check in is 30 mins before the scheduled tour.
Late arrivals may forfeit their ride and will be subject to the cancellation policy.
We cannot delay scheduled tours for late guests.

Yes, we have a restroom!

We have a strict 48-hour cancellation policy.
- Cancellations must be confirmed by staff either by phone or email and must be made more than 48 hours in advance to receive a refund.
- Cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled ride are non-refundable
- No-shows are non-refundable.

We ride rain or shine! We provide rain gear for all our guests.
If weather conditions are unsafe, we may delay or reschedule your ride.
In rare cases of severe weather, our staff will make the decision to cancel by the start of the ride.
