This is Oahu horseback riding the way most people picture it: a guided walk along the sand and the oceanfront trail at Mokulēʻia, on the quiet west end of the North Shore, about an hour’s drive from Honolulu and Waikīkī. Sunshine rides leave every day at 9am, 11am and 1pm, with an afternoon ride and a Sunset ride each evening (the later times shift a little with the season). Groups are small, the horses are gentle working polo ponies, and no riding experience is needed. Ages 8 and up. Check-in is at the ranch, with free parking.

Sunshine Horseback Rides in Oahu

During your ride, you’ll have a spectacular view of the ocean and may catch a glimpse of a sea turtle who likes to come feed on the rocks in front of the polo field. Daytime trail rides provide crystal-clear views of the expansive ocean (weather permitting). You can see the marine life below the surface, catch glimpses of playful dolphins or sea turtles, and enjoy the unobstructed visibility of the horizon. The clarity of the daylight enhances the overall experience, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in the coastal beauty of Oahu. You will be riding real working polo ponies who will take very good care of you.
